I was approached by David Jinks of FridgeProductions in 2004, at Kendal Mountaineering Film Festival, where I was exhibiting my climbing paintings. He asked me if he could make a documentary  about my work, so I invited him to join me and my friends on a climbing/painting trip to Fontainbleau, in France in 2005. This is the film he made.

The activity of climbing is routinely associated with the frenetic world of extreme sports programmes. Shelley Hocknell is an artist who uses her in-depth knowledge of this sport to commit to canvas what she sees and feels. Following Shelley to Fontainebleau this film captures her working on location in preparation for a forthcoming collection and explores her motivation and inspiration.

High Art was recently voted Best Documentary at the

Filmid Festival 2005 in Birmingham, UK and will be screened at the Kendal Mountain Film Festival.
